7 steps to starting your day positively.

For me, the day always depends on my morning. The breakfast, the time i woke up, you name it, it all affects me for the rest of the day. I know it's sometimes easier to watch Awkward until 3:00 am and wake up at 10:00 am and wonder why you're in such a bad mood. Don't get me wrong, i would love to wake up at 10:00 am and still do everything i had planned but unfortunately, that never ends up happening. How are you supposed to do yoga under the scorching sun at noon. Apart from those things we usually miss out on everything because we have somewhere to be. Now, which sounds more productive and beneficial - binge eating on your couch watching desperate housewives or cleansing your body, doing some yoga, taking a long cold shower and making yourself  a healthy quick breakfast.  If you chose the latter then good for you! Yoga is a form of meditation and if you don't have the time to meditate then yoga is perfect! It's like a workout with meditation.
So without further ado, here are my top tips for having the best day, starting with your morning.

1. Wake up with a positive attitude.

I know how hard this can be,especially if you're depressed or just un-energetic (is that a thing). But trust me this actually helps. Whether it's reading a quote or writing one of your own,i recommend both. This puts you in the best frame of mind and encourages you to fight your demons!

Tip- I subscribed to thing called a 'truthbomb' and it's changed my life. Basically it's a sort wake up called in about 5 words type of thing and you get a new one every day,it's absolutely fantastic! It is run by an amazing, inspiring woman called Danielle Laporte and she is just fabulous and so motivating. Since you get a new one every day, for me it's sort of  a truth bomb designed for the day itself, you know what i mean? Like it's my motto for that whole day and it really benefits me and i highly suggest that you check them out :)

2. Know that you're sad and you are actively trying to be happy.

For the longest time i wanted to be happy so i pretended i was. I completely disagree with the saying "fake it till you make it.". I don't think that's possible and i would much rather heal myself than put on a fake smile. so each morning have i little conversation  in your head allowing yourself to freely think about your situation. The fact that you're even reading this article is applaudable.

3. Have a cleansing routine.

When i say cleansing routine i mean internally and externally. Warm water and lemon is a must and you know that. You could also start your day with a smoothie, a juice, anything that is light because you're going to be getting some exercise  after this and a stuffed belly and jumping jacks never end well. I personally like something to drink because i know that that can never leave me full but it also provides me with the energy i need. I quite like a exfoliating face scrub/wash followed by a hydrating cleanser (the wash of kinds) and finally some rose water. Rose water is my saviour!

4. Get moving.

Your day will be the best if you start it with some form of exercise. Whether it's a run, jog, walk, cycle or even some yoga. I recommend doing some basic stretching exercises and then going for a cycle ride, then coming back and finishing it off with some yoga in your backyard. Exercising also releases endorphins which make you happy!

5. Expose yourself to nature.

Please don't run on a treadmill, run on a track. Don't cycle indoors but actually cycle around your neighbourhood. I promise being exposed to nature is the most rewarding thing ever. it really brings you back to earth and grounds you (pun intended). It's the most absolute form of relaxation. You can start by little things like having your morning drink in your garden/terrace/balcony. You can further those things by going hiking or something fun like that.

6. Don't check social media.

I know, everybody on facebook is missing you but come on. It's sad that we need to know what people are doing so much  and it's sadder that we need other people to know what we are doing. All of that can come later, 2nd, 3rd or hopefully even last.

7. Finish up some work

Nothing is more rewarding than knowing you've accomplished more than you had estimated for yourself. It also sets you in  a productive i'm-getting-things-done type of frame of mind, which everyone could use!

So there you go,my seven steps to waking up happy! If this even helped you a little bit please do leave me a comment, it makes my day brighter.

  1. Hey girls...LOVE the site. Being happy is so important. I pride myself on the ability to wake up everyday and keep the smile on my face. Jogging is definitely my go to thing, in order to keep me sane. Being outdoors and being able to set personal goals for your self is motivating, either physical or mental. I just need to figure out a cleansing tip and life will be perfect.

    1. I'm so glad that you love the site! I completely agree, get outside just instantly lifts my mood and so does jogging, wish I would do it more often though haha x

  3. This habit may seem quite funny, but, after you woke up, you should smile. Even if you are in a bad mood, just smile. You will see the result.
